But do you take my insurance?

We hear this question almost every day from prospective clients.  Let us show you why it is a non-issue.

Penrose Physical Therapy does not follow the common insurance reimbursement-for-services model.  We feel this is an important distinction that allows us to provide better care.  Our treatment model is based on providing the best and most appropriate evaluation and treatment methods for your individual case.  We refuse to allow other factors to diminish the level of care we provide.

The traditional model is failing.  Insurance reimbursements are not keeping pace with the increasing costs of provider care.  This causes clinics using the reimbursement model to find other ways to reduce their costs.  They do this by employing assistants and aids to manage your treatment rather than experienced and expertly trained therapists.  These clinics are also influenced by the amount of reimbursement they will receive for certain treatment methods.  This may cause therapists to alter your ideal treatment plan in favor of methods they know will be reimbursed by insurance.

Our way provides for better care.  By following a cash-based payment model, we are able to provide you with individual attention from an expert whose only interest is to help you reach your goals in the most effective way.  We do not believe in using aides to apply modalities (electrical stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis, etc...) when hands-on treatment would be more appropriate, and will not ask you to perform exercises in the clinic that can easily be performed at home.  This also allows you to experience faster results and, in most cases, actually save you money over the course of your treatment program.

Depending on your type of insurance, you can still file for your own reimbursement.  Your insurance company should have forms available for you, and we will provide you with receipts and treatment codes for the services you receive.  We suggest you contact your insurance company to ask about reimbursement for “Out-of-Network Physical Therapy” services.
